Two years and a row now our dove crew has stayed at the House on Hondo. 5 men and 3 teenage boys this place never feels crowded. The outdoor space is fantastic to unwind, enjoy some horseshoes and grill.

Although the pricing was a little higher than we wanted to pay, it proved to be worth it. It’s a very cute and unique house, that was warm and inviting. It was spacious and allowed us to spread out and relax. Although it was too hot to use it much, we really liked the screened-in porch.

The home was the perfect size and location for our family. We had 2 couples , a teenager, an adult, two toddlers and an infant.  The open areas were not over decorated and allowed the children to roam without worry.  The kids absolutely loved the yard and playscape.  The location was nice because it was close to everything and our family in Hawley.  I anticipate us being back in the near future.

My 14 month old absolutely loved this place. It was baby friendly and he loved running all over the house. I loved how incredibly clean it was. The directions for check in and check out were very clear. Our beds and the couch were very comfortable. The whole house has a super comfortable feeling. You walk in and instantly make yourself at home. My favorite part was that there is a work station/game room. My husband shot hoops holding my son, and i cheered them on as i worked. It was a nice way to spend a little extra time together. I would definitely stay here again.

My family and I had a great time staying at Nathaniel’s place! The kids loved playing in the swimming pool in the backyard and we all enjoyed meals together and hanging out as well. We all were very comfortable as a group of 9 (including kids and a baby). The hosts also stocked the fridge with my family’s favorite beverages (sweet tea and dr. Pepper) which was extremely thoughtful. If you need a place to stay in Abilene for a family I’d highly recommend Nathaniel’s place!

we were in Abilene to help our daughter move to Denver and the home was conveniently located. We found the house well maintained and updated for an older home.  It was hot outside during our stay but the house was very comfortable.  There are quite a few nice restaurants nearby, walkable in cooler weather. Beds were comfortable and the neighborhood quiet. Would stay there again and would recommend to those looking for a place to stay near downtown Abilene

Hand crafted in the mid 1930 from discarded telephone poles this cabin is most unique.  The interior walls are the original knotty pine but the bath fixtures have been replaced with a modern legged soaking tub and granite topped vanity.  Rest comfortably on a sealy pillow top queen sized mattress and enjoy your favorite programs on the smart tv.  Refrigerator and microwave are available along with keurig coffee..

The owners/managers were absolutely amazing. Constant communication and helped us out when we had to stay an extra night. Room was perfect for what we needed. We will stay here again next year for the Youth Bull Riding World Finals!

It was a very cute place and the location was great. In downtown but very quiet. The owner was very responsive to any questions, there was an alarm system which is nice. The welcome note was a very sweet touch and the prayer link was precious! One thing I didn't notice was there isn't a shower which was hard for my husband who is working outside in the dust. But its a great place for a weekend for sure!

Having been going to Abilene for many years, the price hikes were out of this world. Being from Austin, where our occupancy rates are high, they didn't match those of Abilene. this is not a mark on this particular Airbnb, I was THANKFUL to get it. and it was perfect! Will stay again.

The place is exactly as the description states: Built in the 1930s, so the dating shows. It's nice and cozy on the inside. Beware, though, at the time of me writing this review (late February, 2026) it wasn't clearly stated in the description of the location of how short everything is on this property. The heads-up about it was hidden away in the "House Rules" section. I myself was/am aware of how short people were in that era, but not everyone is. If you park under the carport here, be absolutely sure that you are ducking down far, because if you're not paying attention, you will hit your head on a piece of rusty angle iron that sticks out approximately 1 foot into the walkway leading to the front door. This is what I did during my fiancé and I's stay, leaving a trail of blood from the carport to the door. Besides this, the stay was great, and the hosting company was friendly and relatively responsive! They left a nice welcoming gift for my fiancé and I on the TV.

cute place, the entryways are low so be aware of that if your over 6 foot and the bathtub is a little on the smaller side. love the area, lots of trees around the cabin so one of the first things you hear waking up is birds singing. it's beautiful. within walking distance to several things including the convention center and the storybook gardens. The management is very attentive and will do their best to accommodate you and make your visit great.

We loved our stay, it’s a perfect location downtown without the shared space of a hotel. Great walkkability for anything you need. Super clean and soft bed sheets! Perfect for a couple that need a night on the town and some secluded space.

Great stay!  Loved the atmosphere in the cabin!  Definitely stay here again if I am back in Abilene!

Papaw’s Cabin exceed expectations it was extremely clean and we felt comfortable, safe and right at home. The tv had Christian music playing for us when we arrived which was the cherry on top we had it playing every morning to start our day. The Cabin is conveniently located within walking distance to beautiful historic downtown Abilene. We will be visiting again in the future!
